Contrary to what had been understood, archaeological researchers into Iceland’s old monastic cloisters, including Prof. Steinunn J. Kristjánsdóttir, have indicated that parish churches were not also used as churches for the cloisters, Alëx Elliott has reported for Iceland Review.

In a report, Mr Elliott indicated that, earlier, Iceland Review had indicated that the same group of scientists believed they had found the remains of a monastic site in South Iceland, and that it was not near the parish church as had previously been assumed.
