Editor: Karen Bushby
Karen Bushby joined the Gazette Team as editor in June 2019
She has a degree in English and History from Loughborough University and holds professional qualifications from the National Council for the Training of Journalists.
Karen has worked in newspapers in Northern Ireland and greater London. In 2002 she moved into freelance public relations and in 2004-05 she was Northern Ireland coordinator of the National Lottery’s 10th anniversary. She is the first female editor in the Gazette’s history and the first lay person to do the job.
Karen is an elder in Banbridge Non-Subscribing Presbyterian Church. She was part-time press officer for Belfast Cathedral for five years and has been Connor Diocesan Communications Officer since 2006, a job she continues to do alongside the editorship of the Gazette.
She said: “I am passionate about news and telling stories that will challenge, entertain and inspire the reader. The Church of Ireland is bursting with people and parishes doing fantastic work and, with the support of diocesan communications officers and other contributors, I want to share those stories, while also maintaining thought provoking features which have made the Gazette so popular over many decades.”
Karen is married to Matthew and has three children – Aaron, Victoria and Ruby.
Deputy Editor: Suyai Rodríguez
|Suyai has been the assistant editor of the Gazette since April 2018. She also works
as office administrator for Latin Link Ireland mission agency and as freelance
translator (English to Spanish and vice-versa) and editor.
Office Manager: Ellla McLoughlin
|Ella has worked for the Church of Ireland Gazette for a number of years and was previously Advertising Administrator. She took up her current role in November 2006.|
