May 2022 Gazette

Our May issue is out now, and full of great news and features from across the island. St Columba’s church in Glencolumbkille graces our front cover, and in her editorial, editor Emma Blain writes about the precarious position this historically and spiritually significant church finds itself in.  Inside we meet royal enthusiast Rev’d Canon Derek Kerr who is preparing his Platinum Jubilee Exhibition, where he will display some of his impressive collection of royal memorabilia Alf McCreary interviews Lord Robin Eames on the eve of his 85th birthday, to reflect on his life and career, which spanned a difficult period in the island’s history.  Dean Stephen Farrell writes about the problem with greenwashing in his monthly column, and how we can do our bit for climate change by buying and supporting local producers. Diocesan Focus this month is on Cork, Cloyne and Ross, who have had a busy year including choir camps, open air beach services and day trips to activity centres. On our food pages, you’ll find a selection of recipes fit for a queen, to help you celebrate the Platinum Jubilee with family and friends. All this and much more in our May issue.
